Harrisburg – Pennsylvania Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-34) issued the following statement on the passing of Penn State Broadcasting legend Fran Fisher:
“Today, I was saddened to hear the news that the Penn State community lost a great man and broadcaster, Fran Fisher. I consider myself fortunate to have grown up listening to his play-by-play calls of the Penn State games. As a journalism major in college, I aspired to reach his heights in broadcasting. Later in life, I was honored to consider Fran and his wife Charlotte, who preceded him in death, to be dear friends.
“He was the voice of Penn State and, next to Joe Paterno, I do not know if there is another Penn State icon greater than Fran Fisher. I would like to send my condolences to the Fisher family and say thank you to Fran Fisher for his work, dedication and support of Penn State.”
