Corman: Huntingdon Solar Project to Receive $850,000 from State Solar Energy Fund

(HARRISBURG) – Westminster Woods Solar LLC has been awarded $850,000 from the state Solar Energy Fund to purchase and install a ground-mounted solar system next to Westminster Woods, a senior living community in Huntingdon Borough, Huntingdon County, according to Senator Jake Corman (R-34).

“Clean, affordable energy needs to be a significant part of our state’s energy future,” Corman said. “The progressive thinking of this facility will allow it to use solar energy to reduce energy costs while having a meaningful impact on our environment. The state dollars put into the Solar Energy Fund ensures that vital projects such as this become a reality.”

The funding was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Solar Energy Program, Corman said. The money will be used for the engineering and construction of the project, which has a total cost of $1.898 million.  The system will generate more than 1.35 million kWh annually.
