Corman: State Budget Hearings Can Be Viewed Online

Harrisburg – Senate hearings on the proposed 2010-2011 state budget can be viewed online, according to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jake Corman (R-34).

To view a hearing, go to www.jakecorman.com or www.pasenategop.com and click on the orange “Watch it Live” button. The sites also feature video of previous hearings, written summaries, and a schedule of upcoming hearings.

Three weeks of committee hearings on the $29 billion spending plan began Tuesday, and feature members of the Appropriations panel questioning administration officials and other agency heads on funding requests and other topics.

“Responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars is a core duty of state government, and it is important that the public be able to follow these discussions about spending so they can judge that stewardship,” said Corman. “I hope citizens take a minute to check out the hearings and summaries, and contact me if there is anything else we can do to make the process more open and accessible.”
