Hearing Set on Impact of College Drinking on Local Municipalities
Monday, Sept. 13, State College Borough Municipal Building

Harrisburg – Sen. Jake Corman (R-34) will host a public hearing by the Senate Majority Policy Committee, chaired by Sen. Ted Erickson (R-26), on the impact of alcohol violations on municipalities surrounding college campuses.

The hearing will be held Monday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. at the State College Borough Municipal Building, Council Chambers (Room 304), 243 South Allen Street.

Negative impacts to be discussed include increased crime, costs and diversion of police resources.

Testifiers will include local municipal and police officials from State College Borough (Penn State University’s location), Indiana Borough (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), and West Chester Borough (West Chester University). Also, the Interfraternity Council at Penn State and the University Park Undergraduate Association will present testimony to give student perspectives.
