(HARRISBURG) — Senator Jake Corman (R-Centre) has been appointed by Gov-elect Tom Corbett to serve on his transition team. The transition team is made up of 17 different committees, each examining a specific area of state government.
Corman, who serves as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, will be a volunteer member of the Budget, Pension and Revenues Committee. He will work with other members and committees to review the operations of the state government departments and agencies and prepare a transition report, outlining their recommendations for changes and improvements.
“As Gov-elect Corbett prepares to take office, budget concerns and the need for fiscal responsibility remain a top priority,” Corman said. “We need to find ways to save money, improve efficiency and make government work harder and smarter for taxpayers.”
Corman said he is honored to have been selected and will work with the incoming transition team to get the new Administration off and running in meeting the challenges ahead.
“I want to work in a bipartisan and cooperative way to make state government better and find new and innovative solutions to the challenges we face,” Corman said. “First and foremost, we need to recognize that we have to rein in government spending and keep taxes low.”
