(HARRISBURG) – Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-34) issued a statement today congratulating the Big Ten Conference announcement today that its universities will return to playing fall sports safely with a detailed COVID-19 mitigation plan.
“I congratulate the Big Ten Conference and its universities for focusing on how we can safely proceed with fall sports instead of focusing on what we cannot do,” Senator Corman said. “The Big Ten and its universities have access to the nation’s top medical professionals and others in order to develop a thoughtful and comprehensive plan that will protect the athletes, staff, students and our community. For months, local school districts, rec leagues and Penn State have demonstrated an ability to safely conduct sports activities. The decision to allow these Big Ten athletes to compete is one small step to show that we can make our way back to normalcy safely.”
